A Bit More Hair

Today as Bryan was getting Evan out of his car seat, Evan started talking about hair. Evan touched his own hair, then he touched Bryan's hair. Then he told Bryan he needed "a bit more" hair and started pointing to the places where Bryan could use said hair. I tried not to laugh. Really I did. But I just couldn't help myself!

Disney World...Oh Wait...It is a Trip to Grandma's

For Evan a trip to visit the grandparents is as exciting as a trip to Disney World would be--if not more so. He always gets showered with love and does tons of fun things. Such as...

...feed the birds...

...take a trip to the zoo...

...play with Grandma Betty...

...play the guitar with Papa Stu...

Next up...Grandpa Jerry's and Mimi's house.

Miss Ashley's Wedding

Our dear, sweet Miss Ashley got married last week. Ashley nannied for us for a year after I went back to work from maternity leave. She was an amazing nanny and is an even more amazing person. We were able to take a whirlwind trip to Utah to get to go to her wedding.

Miss Ashley bought Evan a pink tie so he would match the wedding party. He was very excited. When he put on his sports coat, he kept saying, "I daddy. I go work."

Those ties aren't always all their cracked up to be. Evan's needed a little adjusting here and there.

Beautiful Miss Ash with her niece.

Here I am stealing a hug from Evan. He is pretty used to that.

Miss Ashley had ice cream at the reception--Evan liked the waffle cone cup.

It was an uphill battle to keep grass stains off the sports coat.

Miss Ashley taught Evan this smile.

Evan kept trying to hang out with the ladies. Some were more receptive than others.

Our family.
More about our trip to come...

A Balancing Act

Don't you wish you could have this much fun with everyday objects?

One of my greatest joys is watching Evan make something out of nothing. Who knew balancing a stencil on his head would bring such a big smile to his little face?

Like a Moth to a Flame

Evan is like a magnet to water. I can't tell you how many pairs of white socks have been ruined when he bolts for a muddy puddle before I can catch him. He recently discovered fountains. It was love at first sight.

Evan likes to yell out "Oh Toodles" when he is being silly. Capturing it with a still camera is almost as good as getting it on video.

I think we'll be back.

The Day the Music Died

Today, I'm afraid to say, is the day I finally relinquished control over my radio and allowed Evan to start listening to Disney songs in the car. I don't know why I did it. It seemed like a good idea at the time. But 20 non-stop minutes of the old school Mickey Mouse Club House song (M-I-C-K-E-Y M-O-U-S-E...Mickey Mouse...Donald Duck...Mickey Mouse...Donald Duck) had me longing for my country music.

I realized, albeit a little too late, that the car was the last of my own domains. When the t.v. is on at home, it is Mickey or Handy Manny or Elmo. I can't remember the last time I watched a Law & Order re-run (oh--Lennie Briscoe, how I miss you!). At home Evan and I are always doing something together--playing hockey, reading books, making messes--which is exactly how it should be. But, the car was the only place where I could have a few minutes to relax, even if it was in rush hour traffic. So I wish I would have thought twice today before I carted the C.D. out to the car and put it in the player. Of course, Evan loved it and insisted I replay the K-E-Y song over and over and over and over. I find rush hour so much more bearable when George Straight is singing to me.

Now I'm asking myself 'Why? Why? Why did I invite Disney into the car???' Think twice before you make the same mistake I did.
